Waterhouse Hawkins
Exhibit of the artist's sketchbooks and drawings, models of his famous
Crystal Palace dinosaurs, and scientific publications for which
Hawkins provided illustrations.
Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins (1807-1894), the creator of the world's
first life-sized dinosaur scuptures (made for London's Crystal Palace
in 1854) and the world's first articulated dinosaur display (created
for the academy of Natural Sciences in 1868) is the subject of a
special exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences from October 25
through February 15, 2008.
