Tomial crest of dinosaurs and pterosaurs

I'm trying to figure out the function of the tomial
crest of some dinosaurs and (may be) pterosaurs (e.g.
Gobipteryx,Euoplocephalus,flamingos).

This feature is named as "lateral ridge" by Õsi et al.
2005 on the description of the azhdarchid Bakonidraco.

Basically I'm trying to know whether or not they are
homologous and what could be their function.
