The presence of giant oviraptors may offer an explanation for the existence
of the gigantic egg rings from similar sediments. That the eggs were partly
exposed favors their being incubated under a feather pelage.
The elongated legs of Gigantoraptor is similar to those of giraffes, and
probably evolved to increase vertical feeding reach. As per giraffes, the long
legs would also allow high speed, but probably not faster than ornithomimids
and
tyrannosaurs of similar size.
