Is that a fact, or an artifact of the way *Caudipteryx* slabs are

split and prepared (they all have the gastroliths exposed)?<<<

Certainly the original authors were pretty sure it wasn't an artifact of prep. The specimens I've examined (including the type) don't look to be an artifact of prep. Plus there is corroborating evidence in other feathered dinosaurs. Hopefully more on that at SVP this year...
