I assume that 'skimming' refers to a very specialised form of predation,
involving the lower jaw permanently in the water until it hits something (so
the animal in question doesn't even have to see the prey).
I don't think it's the same thing as flying low over the water (but not as
low as a true skimmer) and snatching something purely from the air (located
by sight).
