Occurrence of chelonians has

It is likely that other
carnivorous reptiles also must have been thriving in

Why are the chelonians automatically assumed to be
predaceous?
That depends on what the word 'other' is meant to convey. They may be
talking about other reptile species (some of which were carnivorous) rather
than other carnivores specifically. Perhaps the word 'carnivorous' should
have been in brackets?
