Post-Doc Vert Paleo Position at ANSP
ANSP POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: #926, POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN VERTEBRATE
PALEONTOLOGY

A two-year post-doctoral fellowship in vertebrate paleontology is available
at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. The
Academy's Department of Vertebrate Zoology will provide the facilities and
colleagues to support the successful candidate. Taxonomic focus is on Late
Devonian sarcopterygian fishes from the Catskill Formation in Pennsylvania
and Fram Formation in Nunavut Territory, Canada. The postdoc will work on
high-quality sarcopterygian material in collaboration with senior scientific
staff at the Academy (Dr. Ted Daeschler) and at the University of Chicago
(Dr. Neil Shubin). Applicants are encouraged to correspond in advance with
the scientists.
Requirements: Ph.D. in paleontology or related discipline; strong background
in vertebrate morphology and phylogenetic systematics; proven writing
skills; experience with sarcopterygian fishes preferred.
Salary: US$37K annually plus fringe benefits. There will also be an
allowance for research expenses and research travel.

Post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to contribute to the intellectual life
of the Academy, participating in seminars and discussion groups, lending
expertise to ongoing research projects in various areas, and working with
collections staff.
