Vultur gryphus was originally described by Linnaeus in Systema Naturae Ed. X (1758) so there is no type specimen as such. Linnaeus first citation is "Klein 45" so I suppose You could consider this as a sort of "type specimen":

I have no idea if anyone has ever defined a neotype for either species.
