I've wondered about the term *cyclops* myself, specifically how it 
relates to *kyklos* 'wheel'--is it possible the term actually means 
'wheel-face', with the single eye as the "hub"?  But I'm no Greek 
scholar, either, and we're drifting a bit off topic...
