RE: The really BIG dinosaur misconception

I've been catching up on the DML info, and there is a MAJOR dinosaur
misconception that hasn't been touched. This is one that is
held not only by the general public, but also non-paleontologists
scientists, TV producers, etc.:
* Many Mesozoic dinosaur species are known from statistcially-signficant
numbers, with complete skeletons of both identifiable
sexes, growth series, and eggs (including embryos).
(And most especially the famous species!!)

It would be grat if many kids or pop dino books could do more to illustrate
this rather than arbitrary skeletons or reconstructions which are complete
and fail to distinguish assumpton from found bone.
Having a kids dino book more like a detective story and showing what is
found and then how facts and assumptions are extrapolated would be great.
Some of it exists in popular books, but not much. I always loved alternate
reconstrcutions next to each other illustrating the different ways people
saw them.
