We are currently doing worse things today.  The "bush meat" market for
chimpanzees is hotter than ever.  And our society still condones the idea
of doing medical experiments on our closest primate relative. Some of
these experiments are quite painful, and many of them end in the death of
the chimp (either from the experiment itself, or from euthanasia after
the experiment has ended).

Creating life (e.g., reviving a Neanderthal) pales in comparison to our
current horrors on our fellow hominoids.

A little *consistency* in our philosophy would be nice...............
