Funny an image as that is, I /beleive/ that in
dogs thats an attempt to un-impact their 'anal
gland', and that dinosaurs have skin that is
relatively a-glandular (ala birds, as opposed to
mammals, with their sebaceous and sweat glands
and hair follicles). 

BUT, most birds have some sort of oily "preening"
gland, sometimes located near the pygostyle no?
So perhaps there is still an oppurtunity for this
bit of mesozoic mockery!
