Controversial "Diatryma" footprint (Update)

George Mustoe kindly sent me some information on the highly controversial
"Patterson Diatryma footprint". This includes photos, background info,
and how the footprint came to be moved from the Burke Museum to Western
Washington University. I have posted it all to my website at:

http://www.scn.org/~bh162/patterson_diatryma.html

I'll leave the info up on my website for about a month, after which time
it will be removed for my annual spring cleaning.

"We recognize, however dimly, that greater efficiency, ease, and security
may come at a substantial price in freedom, that law and order can be a
doublethink version of oppression, that individual liberties surrendered,
for whatever good reason, are freedoms lost." - Walter Cronkite, preface
to the 1984 edition of George Orwell's _1984_.
