In my experience, the press gets something really wrong a significant  
portion of the time.  I think something is lost in the translation.   
I have actually gone to a local newspaper after an interview and  
rewritten the story for the reporter to get it right. (It helps that  
I fix his computers!)
It is perhaps coincidental that the reporter covering this and the  
scientist were actually attending the same meeting at the same  
time.  :-(
