I think that "Kustodiat" means "curator".

"Office of the curator" (at least in German... doesn't "custodiate" exist in English?).

I met Katarina many years ago. As I know few words of Slovenian, I suppose
we talked in English, thus she can speak English, at least enough to talk
with an Italian.

It may be a prejudice, but I think every scientist nowadays speaks some sort of English (in order to read most of the primary literature).
