RE: South Dakota fossil yields new dinosaur species
I'm intrigued. Are they saying that they've found a _Homalocephale_-like
pachycephalosaur with spikes similar to _Stygimoloch_/Sandy Creek
pachycephalosaur?
The photo on the Yahoo! website looks a little like Mike Triebold's pachy
skull squashed flat.
IIRC, the Sandy Creek pachy is missing its dome anyway, and besides, could
this just be a case of individual variation? Besides, it seems that it was
excavated from the same locality anyway; the Hell Creek Formation in South
Dakota... wasn't that where "Sandy" was found?
But if it is indeed a non-pachycephalosaurid, it would be quite a surprise,
given that this would appear to be the first verified non-pachycephalosaurid
in North America.
