Paleogeographers are pretty secure on this one. I do not know the details about this, but first order approximation would be that they have Cretaceous marine sediments from that area...

On the other hand, paleogeographers do happily fill in gaps. Many maps, including those at scotese.com, show South America and Antarctica breaking apart in the LK -- while biogeographic and climatological evidence says the break happened around the Eocene-Oligocene boundary. I guess there are just no Cretaceous sediments from Cape Hoorn.

Contrary to my expectations, however, there are Permian and/or Triassic (I forgot) marine sediments from eastern Greenland.
