I did search & rescue for about 17 years, mostly drowning recoveries. We
also used the term 'bloat & float', and called our recoveries either
bloaters or floaters depending upon how long it took us to find them. The
mechanics and timing of lift off and subsequent movement are interesting,
not entirely intuitive, and somewhat different for rivers and lakes.
