Unfortunately this Discovery article (which also rehashes several arguments that were refuted long ago) doesn't mention if Arens made any attempt to get things like the Signor-Lipps effect and local variations of the environment to find the gradual decline in the number of angiosperm and mollusk species (interestingly 90 % for both). I don't assume Arens is stupid, so I'm sure he did something, but how much, and what?


Strange that the article mentions a _trans_gression where everyone else mentions a _re_gression.
