No other predators allowed this dinosaur - er bird to reach large size?
Interesting relationship. How general is that?
Well, insular gigantism is a pretty well-known phenomenon in both plants
and animals. As for predators, a mammalian example might be the fossa,
which may well have increased in size on Madagascar in the absence of other
large mammalian predators.
