Kong... and the Digital Circus

After reading all of your spirited posts concerning what we all thought about
Jackson's Kong, I'd like to share something about the movie... and really...
it's about movies today in general. It's something that has become ever so
apparent in recent years... Jackson's Kong... was filmed the way that Jackson's
Kong was filmed... simply because in this day and age, you need to make movies
out to be a cross between Japanese anime and a video game. If not, you lose
90% of your target audience.

It's that simple. Being simply "Fantasy" or "Scifi", just doesn't cut it
anymore, folks.

Kong was made like Kong was made back in the 1930s, because it was the 1930s.
It's now the 2000s.... If it isn't obscenely over-the-top fantastic... If it
doesn't move real fast and make loud noise... If it isn't a complete departure
from physical laws that most people don't even understand to begin with...
then all the kiddies doped up on ritaline won't pay any attention to it.

The more outrageous it is, the more money it makes. The entertainment
industry today is nothing but a digitized circus (maybe sideshow is a better
word for
it?).

Tis sad. But so true. Speaking from experience, I'm not saying that we should
stop rattling our sabers and submit (Learn from my mistakes. I'm pretty
certain that I even lost a girlfriend due to my rantings and ravings over
JP2)...
But the sooner everyone comes to terms with the times, the less irritated we'll
be when we go to see a movie that we all know, could have been made in a much
better way.
