Kong and Komodo

I saw Kong last night and noticed the reappearance of a minor character, the
giant lizard. A quick search through Google revealed that the Komodo Dragon was
discovered just twenty years prior on a little island just a wee bit closer
than the fabled Skull Island. And of course T-rex, Stegosaurus and the lot were
still relatively new discoveries back then. The airplane as a shooting machine
was less than twenty years old and the Empire State building still smelled of
fresh paint.

What a time!

My impression of the Jackson Kong was one of wonderment. I was slack-jawed
watching what was on the screen from an art director's POV - from start to
finish. The over-the-top moments could have been rethought, absolutely.

Still, overall, incredible.
