Damn! They seem to be jinxed. The gorgeous Triceratops model footage from
Creation that was cut into an early version of Kong is lost as well as a
Styracosaur (later used briefly in Son of Kong). Except for a nanosecond of
footage, the Jurassic Park Triceratops was comatose. There's never been a
classic
confrontation with Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus, except for The Animal
World...and that has been severely cut. Harryhausen's Ceratosaurus in 1
Million
Years B.C. is a reasonable stand-in, I guess.
The newly released DVD of the 1933 Kong has an excellent feature on the
original Creation Styracosaurus and a very exact replica made for a recreation
of
Kong's spider pit sequence. There's also a shot of a production drawing for
Kong's Triceratops sequence. Can't recommend it enough. DV
