In terms of a basic starting point, it might be worthwhile to make the
assumption that whatever conditions best favor plants, algae, and other
autotrophs is going to favor overall biomass. Biomass from humans, dinosaurs,
any animal, and even fungi is all essentially recycling. So what's good for
algae?
That won't get you much in the way of a quantitative estimate, but it might
give you some qualitative ideas. Water and CO2 levels might be a place to start.
