Dear Colleagues,

We are now about a week away from the beginning of the II LATIN-AMERICAN
CONGRESS OF VERTEBRATE PALEONTOLOGY. The Organizing Committee has worked very
hard to provide everyone a nice and pleasant meeting. There are three
symposia, three workshops, and two talks scheduled besides the regular and
poster sessions. A total of 211 papers will be presented at the meeting.

The talks will be presented by Zulma Gasparini ("THE SEAS OF WESTERN GONDWANA
AND THEIR MARINE MONSTERS") and by Michael Benton ("ECOSYSTEM REMODELLING
AMONG VERTEBRATES AT THE PERMO-TRIASSIC BOUNDARY").

There will also be an exposition of paleoart, the first of its kind in Brazil
and includes artists from several countries. One of the main attractions is a
nice reconstruction of Microraptor gui, the Chinese dinosaur with feathers on
fore and hind limbs.

For those arriving on August 9th, there will be someone of the IICLPV to
welcome you at the Antonio Carlos Jobim International airport. An informal
get together with a cash bar will take place at the Rio Othon Palace Hotel
that night.

On site registration can be made at the Mar Azul Room of the Rio Othon Palace
Hotel starting on August 9th from 16:30 to 19:00. We would like to remind
everyone that only Brazilian currency can be accepted (for registration
price, please consult the home page). T-shirts, extra copies of the abstract
volume and the poster of the meeting will be available.

A welcome party will be held by the Museu Nacional on August 10th. Buses will
leave from the Rio Othon Palace Hotel (at 7:30 and 8:30 pm) to the museum. On
August 11th we are going to commemorate the centenary of the birth of
LLEWELLYN I. PRICE with an exposition at the Earth Science Museum (DNPM). A
banquet where awards are going to be presented is scheduled for the last day
of the event (August 12h).

We would like to remind everyone that CDs or slides for oral presentation
MUST be delivered to the Mar Azul Room as was specified to each speaker.
Please consult website (http://acd.ufrj.br/mndgp/2clpv) for further
information and the complete program.

See you in Rio!

The Organizing Committee
