Searching for Mastodon Pleistocene discovery info

Greetings List:
   I am presenting a question here for a website acquaintance, Chris H. 
Stevenson .   He's currently researching the dig in his home town of Hemet, 
CA that took place in Diamond Valley Lake called the "Valley of the 
Mastodons."
To his knowledge, no full length book has ever been written on this 
discovery and he was fanatically encouraged by the mayor, herself, to jump 
pell mell on this project.  He's since sent inquiries to all persons on this 
dig to find out how he can obtain resource material, reports, photos etc. 
It's been touted as the second largest pleistocene discovery since Rancho La 
Brea in the southern California region.  Yet only newspaper reports and 
stories have appeared and faded away.
    Though he's an accomplished non-fic book author, fic writer ,and 
reporter, his background in vertebrate paleontology is derived from 20 years 
as a self-taught amateur.  He'll need tons of guidance and advice.  Mainly, 
procurement, permission to reprint origins, and he wants to get his science 
right!
