Re: Rotund Triceratops
Partly ossified intracoracoid cartilages were described from articulated
Iguanodon specimens by Norman 1980 in his description of I. bernissartensis.
The probable Triceratops trackway shows the hindfeet contacting the midline,
contrary to the laterally separated feet in the new mount.
The articulated Triceratops now in Japan shows the posterior trunk ribs
bunched together as in other ceratopsid skeletons, and the chest ribs strongly
swept backwards.
Peter et al are going to try out these features (including mounting the
skeleton to walk out the trackway) in their next mount of the cast.
