Conuropsis fratercula

Are there any diagnostic characters relating this Miocene taxon to Carolina 
Parakeet (Conuropsis carolinensis)?

I've allways been under the impression that it was only placed in Conuropsis 
on geographical (and thus very dubious) grounds.

Also, is this genus itself (Conuropsis) justified? To me, Carolina Parakeets 
greatly resemble the 'gold-and-yellow' Aratinga species 
(solstitialis,jendaya,...).

Any help would be appreciated.
