Oh, I get it.   That never occurred to me.

I was, like, you get a copy of the post from the list; what do you need to
be cc'd for?

I thought that sending people a second copy of your reply was a nuisance,
like double posting.

I kind of think the answer is to get individual posts.

I always subscribe to individual posts - that way I get any relevant posts
immediately.   I don't read all the many e-mails I get that don't interest
me!    First thing I always do is delete stuff I don't want to read.   I've
never been able to understand people complaining about too much e-mail.
