Well... "joke" is not a good wording... it looks like Martin didn't notice
that the tree wasn't rooted, which implies he didn't know how to make a
taxon the outgroup

In other words: this one character was tripled. Looks like Martin didn't
even understand the difference between "character" and "character state"...
