Re: Bird Science
OK, let's try again. I can see I should have proofread.
+AD4- Well, it depends on how much it matters to you. You seem pretty upset
given that you're saying it doesn't matter. My own perceptions are those
of a
nonscientist. I'm just one of the great mass of the rest of humanity.
+AD4-
I myself am not really attached enough to the term +ACI-ornithology+ACI- to get
vehemently upset about +AFs-what happens to the term itself.+AF0-
+AD4-
The subject came up +AFs-the same way I've repeatedly
seen it come up on the other bird lists +ADsAXQ- newcomer gets gnashed or
confused by the conservatives in the tug of war going on over the study of
birds that I now see has gotten
completely ridiculous. But that can only matter if the perceptions of
amateur birders and the public in general matter.

herpetologists.
+AD4- +AD4- Ornithology is hardly headed for extinction or +ACI-hobby
status.+ACI- As for
+AD4- what
+AD4- +AD4- the casual observer of ornithology thinks...if they're casual
observers
+AD4- they
+AD4- +AD4- don't matter that much, yes?
