All of which are quite certainly sternal ribs which chose to ossify this
time.

Leon P. A. M. Claessens: Dinosaur gastralia: origin, morphology, and
function, JVP 24(1), 89 -- 106 (25 March 2004)

BTW, it is _very_ surprising to find that Claessens, _the_ expert on
gastralia of all sorts of tetrapods, doesn't know that the singular of
gastralia is gastrale, and even explicitely says "(singular: gastralium)".
Gastrale is the neutral form of the adjective to gaster = stomach, as in
Gastropoda or gastritis. Yes, it isn't possible just by looking at the word
to find out that the singular of gastralia is -e and not -ium -- except if
one sees that it's an ordinary -alis/-ale adjective, in which case it's
obvious.

This I doubt. :-}
