Archaeopteryx in 1930

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can make my life a lot easier with a bit of info.

What was the general scientific view of Archaeopteryx in 1930?
As far as I can tell it was then being viewed as the earliest bird, but was
the link to the dinosaurs suspected?
Was it believed capable of flight?

I'm reading various books and synthesising information from other sources,
but thought I'd call on the vast pool that is the DML too.

Cheers,
