There have been several mentions now of the spinosaurid neural spines
housing air sacs amongst them. I am not particularly well-versed at this
point on the degree of pneumatization in the axial elements of spinosaurids,
but perhaps someone is...how much air space IS there in and around the
vertebrae of spinosaurids? Presumably any air sacs present in the sail
would have to integrate with pneumatic elements (is this crazy to assume?),
so that may be at least some kind of first-level test.
Whew...been a long time since I sent to the list...will have to catch up
