I do not see it as being very likely. A bird that found it advantageous to
NOT fly in order to find carrion? I think vultures have that niche filled for
a reason.
You find plenty of predators in tar pits. Aside from cheetahs, who are not
built to steal prey, any good predator is an even better oppurtunist. They
don't care where the meat comes from, and if it minimizes the effort in
aquiring the meat, dead meat is better than live meat.
