The Early Cretaceous labyrinthodont *Koolasuchus* is rife with double
meanings. The name honours Leslie Kool, a preparator at Monash
University. It also make reference to the cool climate of this part of
Australia at that time. It is thought that labyes lived on into the
Cretaceous here because it was too cold for crocs to survive (and
subsequently out-compete the labyes). Hence *Koolasuchus* was the
closest thing to a 'cool crocodile' in the area.
