You're right to put "standard" in quotes. What you list here seems to mix two
systems:
Buchholz-Wagner: {X + Y}, {X > Y}
Draft PhyloCode (recommendation): Clade(X + Y), Clade(X <- Y), Clade(x in Y)
(The last PhyloCode example is apomorphy-based; x is a character)

Good point! (As far as stem-modified crowns are concerned, anyway.) I think
it's time to invent a new notation. Perhaps
Clade(extant Clade(X <- Y)), or {extant {X > Y}}?
