SVP photos
Alright, I just got my SVP photos developed last night and I thought I'd
post 'em for all to see
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/paleoportfolio
And here are some explanations to go with the pictures...
Triceratops: This is the Triceratops on display at the SMM. Sure, the pose
is out of date, but I'm told the skeleton had to be remounted that way
because the bones were already in such poor shape.
Quetzalcoatlus: This is the first guy you meet when you walk into the SMM.
Banquet table: This is the table I sat at at the final banquet. Clockwise
from the left: Demetrios Vital, Greg Paul (hiding behind Demetrios), Bill
Stout, Todd Marshall (must've been the Fosters), Mark Hallett, Mike
Skrepnick, Judy Horan, and Mary Kirkaldy. Couldn't have asked to sit with a
nicer bunch of people.
Banquet table again: Same pic, only before the meal. Clockwise from left:
Demetrios Vital, Greg Paul (behind Demetrios), Bill Stout, Todd Marshall,
Mark Hallett, Mike Skrenick, Judy Horan, and Mary Kirkaldy.
Compsognathus: This little feller is on display at the SMM.
Chasmosaurus: C. belli (brevirostris) at the SMM.
Dilophosaurus: as seen at the SMM. Gotta love subnarial gaps. :-P
Allosaurus: because I'm tired of seeing his skull in the lateral.
Diplodocus: A picture dedicated to both Mark Hallett and my girlfriend
Angela - the two biggest sauropod lovers I've ever met.
Stegosaurus: at the SMM. This shot came out great! Gotta love Xiphactinus
in the background. That's a bloody big fish.
Triceratops again: with Vanna Whi - err - I mean Demetrios Vital for scale.
Polar bear: at the SMM, with Demetrios Vital for amusemen - err - for scale.
Yeah, that's it...
Papa bear: "Someone's been sleeping in MY bed!"
Cliff's booth: The booth of paleosculptor Cliff Green and his lovely wife
Eileen. I spent a lot of time hanging around there. That red sculpture in
the bottom left is now mine!
SVP auction: the SVP live auction. It was fun. As you can see, this one
young lady in front of me had an arm growing out of her head and she was
able to cast all her bids with that. Crazy!
Allosaurus vs. Camptosaurus: Or "Camptosaurus attempts to swallow a giant
gastrolith."
Paleoart table: Us paleoartists hanging out after hours. Clockwise around
the table from the left: Mike Skrepnick, Tracy Ford, Mark Hallett, Demetrios
Vital, Greg Paul, Alex Downs, and Judy Horan.
Todd's room: Hanging out in Todd Marshall's room (were you sharing that room
with him, Gary?), looking at one another's portfolios. Todd's on the left,
Gary Staab on the top right, Demetrios Vital on the bottom right.
Donna and Demetrios: Demetrios and I got to sit with legend (yeah, that's
right!) Donna Braginetz at the SVP auction. She has the coolest business
cards I have ever seen.
Abedi-abedi-abedi-abedi-that's all folks! Better start saving my money for
next year...
