RE: Feathers for T-rex?
Thanks to everyone for all your replies to this question, and it seems ideas
are definitely changing on this. People are much more pro-feathers for
T-rex, now.
One thing I'm still interested in though. Does large size require the loss
of pelage? I've read that feathers can be an effective sun-screen, stopping
an animal overheating in direct sunlight. If this is true (generally
statements which start "I've read..." aren't) then feathered adult rexes
could have been better off than more basal big theropods. Anybody have any
information on heat gain/loss with feathers?
