The Mesozoic Garden recreates the plant world at the time of the dinosaurs...
this exhibit is only on display for two weeks. Don't miss it! Project
Exploration's Dinosaur Giants Team of Chicago Public high school students
will be on hand every weekend to answer questions about plant evolution,
fossils and SuperCroc - the largest croc that ever lived!
COMMUNITY RECEPTION - Monday, March 10th from 6:00-8:00pm
Project Exploration and the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance invite you to
an information reception about an exhibit that will open next December.
GIANTS, African Dinosaurs is the next big exhibit to come to the
Conservatory. Learn about educational and community events and opportunities
in the upcoming year. Please RSVP to 773.834.7614. Everyone is welcome!
TEACHER WORKSHOP - MARCH 28 & 29th
"DO PENGUINS HAVE KNEES?"
A MODEL FOR INQUIRY-BASED SCIENCE FIELD TRIPS
Lincoln Park Zoo and Project Exploration have teamed up to bring you the
Professional Development workshop of the year! "Do Penguins Have Knees?"
takes 25 Chicago Public School middle school teachers on an expedition from
the zoo to Project Exploration's fossil laboratory in search of the answer to
an increasingly pressing question: Do Penguins Have Knees?
Along the way, teachers practice inquiry based learning, evaluate the
strengths and weaknesses of teaching from a "nature of science" starting
point, and develop a replicable field trip plan. This two-day workshop is
designed for middle school teachers. Cost is $80. RSVP by faxing the attached
form <http://www.projectexploration.org/newsletters/penguins.pdf> to
312/742-1727.
For questions or to RSVP by phone, call Sue Teller-Marshall at 312/742-2044.
Space is limited to 25 teachers. CEU credit may be available.
