Re: Tanycolagreus topwilsoni

Ahem, (drum roll please),

The manuscript for Tanycolagreus is in review. In will appear in "The 
Carnivorous Dinosaurs", another edited volume to be published by Indiana 
University Press. Originally we thought the skeleton was Coelurus, but during a 
description of the skeleton, we discovered it was not. From the abstract:

"The taxon is phyletically  closest to Coelurus fragilis, but differs in the 
absence of pleurocoels in the anterior dorsal centra, moderate length 
prezygapophyses on distal caudals, straight humeral shaft, and relative length 
of the metatarsals to the humerus. It differs from Ornitholestes hermanni from 
Bone Cabin Quarry in the presence of a centrodiapophyseal lamina, more elongate 
dorsals, shorter prezygapophyses on the distal caudals, and bowed radius."

Basically, then the characters in Coelurus and Ornitholestes are the opposite 
of the condition in Tanycolagreus  (i.e., Tanycolagreus with bowed radius, 
Ornitholestes straight).
