Remember that the involuntary altruism of the donor succors eggs
which hatch into repulsive, ferocious larvae. The mother mosquito
has unstinting (with your blood) and unselfish maternal affection.
She shows us the drama of life renewed amidst danger, assured
only of complete ingratitude.
Mosquitoes exist to teach us the imperative of devotion.
For something "whose sole 'raison d'etre' is to annoy and irritate
people" you'll have to search elsewhere. I've left clues.
