ANTON STRIKES BACK
The new issue (no. 53) of newsletter of The
Palaeontological Association has just arrived. It includes
quite a bit of interest.
Some of you may recall my reporting Ian Jenkins' critique
of Mauricio Anton's artwork. See...
http://www.cmnh.org/dinoarch/2003Apr/msg00471.html
Jenkins argued that Anton made some fundamental
anatomical errors and didn't make certain taxa bulky or
bizarre enough. Well, Anton has clearly taken these
comments extremely seriously as he's published a lengthy
response. I haven't read it yet but it looks good...
Anton, M. 2003. Reconstructing fossil mammals: strengths
and limitations of a methodology. _Palaeontological
Association Newsletter_ 53, 55-65 (yes, 11 pp).
In the same issue...
Allen, D. J. 2003. Phylogenetic determination of a new
specimen confirms _Terrestrisuchus_ to be a junior
synonym of _Saltoposuchus_. _Palaeontological
Association Newsletter_ 53, 72-74.
Waterhouse, D. 2003. A new shorebird from the Green
River Formation of Wyoming and its implications for the
phylogeny of the order Charadriiformes. _Palaeontological
Association Newsletter_ 53, 81-83.
