I just received a copy of Feathered Dinosaurs and the Origin of Flight, 
Volume 1. Scansoriopteryx heilmanni beats Epidendrosaurus into print by at 
least 20 days; the printing date of the volume is given as August 1, 2002. 
They look like synonyms to me.
