Are there any hypotheses that are more credible than others for these two
phenomena:
1) No venomous snakes
2) No Tertiary record of Elephant Bird fossils but diverse Q fossils.

1.
Madagascar split off Africa seemingly before venomous snakes evolved or before they were present in Africa.
2.
Maybe flying paleaognaths only found their way to Madagascar after it split off. HOWEVER,we shouldn't forget Madagascar has no pre-Quaternary fossil record.
