Re: Spanish dinosaur website

From: Dann Pigdon <dannj@alphalink.com.au>

I was really impressed by some of this artwork on a spanish site.
Especially that of Raúl Martín. The Compsognathus with horseshoe crabs
almost looks like a photograph.

As HP Varner already pointed out, although this guy is a talented artist, he displays very little originality from what I've seen of his work in "National Geographic Dinosaurs." Again, like HP Varner said, his terribly obvious usage of (notably) Paul's and Henderson's style is somewhat disturbing to an artist like me. (Yes, I too am guilty of imitating their styles in my previous works, but I like to think I've grown since then.) I mean, here are two of the world's greatest paleolife artists who have spent their lives trying to perfecting their own unique methods, and along comes this guy who has learned to imitate their technique brush stroke for brush stroke and who can sell his work for half the price. It's depressing.
It's obvious that he was "inspired" by the _T. rex_ from Jurassic Park, too.
