Important new dinosaur publication
Peter M. Bennett & I.P. Owens, 2002. Evolutionary ecology of birds: life histories, mating systems, and extinction (Oxford University Press), 278pp.
This monumental contribution to theropod ecomorphologies grew from Peter Bennett's 1986 dissertation at the University of Sussex, Comparative studies of morphology, life history, and ecology among birds. Last year, in Julie Lockwood/M.L. McKinney's Biological homogenization (Kluwer Academic Publishers), they (with J.E. Baillie) published "The history and ecological basis of extinction and speciation in birds" (pp. 201-222), an overview of extant theropods. Both volumes should be in every organismic paleobiologist's library.
