The June 28, 2002 issue of Science had a news
article on 14 tons of Chinese fossils seized by the US Customs Service and
returned to China. They were all Triassic in age, mainly crinoids and an
ichthyosaur. They were seized a year ago but just returned to China.
The question I have is: what about the other 100+
tons of Chinese fossils for sale at the Tucson show? How do they get
through Customs?
