It's not yet clear that Poekilopleuron is the correct spelling. That is, 
however, the spelling used by Eudes-Deslongchamps in his formal description 
of the genus, so it should be used preferentially unless an earlier spelling 
can be shown not to be a nomen nudum. The spelling Poecilopleuron in Bronn 
1837 refers to a preliminary 1835 Eudes-Deslongchamps notice, but I've not 
yet been able to locate a copy of the notice--something that appeared in a 
Geological Society of Normandy publication.
