Excellent point, Jim.  The traditional arboreal/"trees-down" versus
cursorial/"ground-up" polarization is counterproductive.  One of the things
that is coming through in many recent publications is that these two
scenarios are NOT necessarily mutually exclusive when it comes to the
evolution of avian flight.
